Soliloquy

                                           Do I love you?
                                           I think not.
                                           Love for you
                                           Is a fairy-tale
                                           Painted with pastel passion.
                                           But –
                                           What I need
                                           Is to splash purple shadows
                                           Across the bedroom wall.

                                           Do I love you?
                                           I think not.
                                           Love for you
                                           Is a lap gently warmed
                                           By a pouting puppy.
                                           But –
                                           What I need
                                           Is to fuse our bodies
                                           Into a fireball.

                                           Do I love you?
                                           I think not.
                                           Love for you
                                           Is a sigh softly spent
                                           On a pristine promise.
                                           But –
                                           What I need
Is to cram full my senses
                                           With your guttural call.

                                           Do I want you?
                                           Yes.
                                           Do I need you?
                                           I suppose I do.
                                           But –
                                           Do I love you?
                                           I think not.
